Wrap-up of The World's First Stoned Gaming Tournament in pictures

Written by

My god, what an Odysseus-like adventure The World's First Stoned Gaming Tournament was!

Our partners Flytlab came through with an array of products and giveaways throughout the tournament -- massive thanks to those guys. The Stoned Gamer tournament couldn't have been possible without them, and they flew all the way from Hong Kong just to be there.

At the XO Gold Cup, we literally fought through rain and wind to provide players and spectators the most enjoyable experience at The World's First Stoned Gaming Tournament.

The tournament spanned two days, October 3rd and 4th, at the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino, California. Originally we planned on pulling off a total of six tournaments, three a day, leading up to the 'Mystery Tournament' in which we were going to give away the coveted $1,500 Golden Grinder from our buds at Phoenician Engineering. Unfortunately due to the weather, set-up delay from one of our partners, and unforeseen celebrity appearances inside the tournament we had to cancel our mystery tournament along with Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and Madden 16.

The custom rigs you see were designed by The Stoned Gamer, and constructed by Custom Gaming Creations. Now we have three fully operational units inside The Stoned Gamer office, each unit filled with every game ever made up until PlayStation 1. Folks, that essentially means we're tossing away our social lives to beat every game we've ever wanted to finish but didn't have enough quarters (or continues) to.

Each tournament champion won a limited-edition golden championship cartridge, along with a free The Stoned Gamer shirt, a large special decal commemorating their victory, and their selection of a Fuse or H2Flo from Flytlab.

The pictures above were snapped by award-winning photographer Nick Fahey, and they only represent the NBA 2k16 tournament we held on the second day of The World's First Stoned Gaming Tournament. We'll be putting up tons of event video shortly that we're almost certain you will enjoy.

Zeus is represented by Galactus in his avatar image because he has an immature obsession with Marvel when they went all sci-fi back in the mid 80s. I'm the creator of The Stoned Gamer, MiddleEasy, and Nickelodeon's The Adventures of Pete and Pete. Just kidding about the Nickelodeon stuff, but that would be really cool. I also produced nutty things for MERRY JANE, and a former writer for High Times Magazine.
